The Road to Glenorchy - Epic Photo Opportunities!

The road to Glenorchy is just as much of a destination as the town itself. A 45km stretch of road that hugs the shores of Lake Wakatipu and twists and turns through beech forest and alongside cliff faces. Be sure to make lots of stops along the way. Bennetts Bluff is a popular lookout with fantastic photo opportunities, as well as pull-overs near the lakeside.

The drive from the centre of Queenstown to Glenorchy is one of the world's great drives.  The New Zealand you imagined from watching the Lord Of The Rings and Hobbit films, can be found here.

Surrounded by the spectacular Humboldt and Richardson Mountain Ranges, it's also a great starting point for those wishing to explore both Fiordland and Mount Aspiring National Parks, as well as the Rees and Routeburn Valleys.

If you're looking for an incredibly scenic adventure with countless opportunities to take incredible photos of mind-blowing scenery, look no further than this 46 kilometre drive.
